Palworld 1.0 Release Date, New Pals, and Everything Coming on July 10

Palworld launched in Early Access in January 2024, immediately broke Steam concurrent player records, survived a high-profile Nintendo lawsuit, and somehow kept growing through all of it. Two and a half years later, Pocketpair is finally calling it done with the Early Access label. Version 1.0 is coming on July 10, 2026, and so far, it’s the biggest update the game has ever shipped.

I’ve been waiting for the World Tree to open since launch day. That red barrier in the northwest has been taunting players for over two years. Six days from now, it’s finally gone.

Palworld 1.0 Release Date: July 10, 2026

Pocketpair confirmed the Palworld 1.0 release date at Summer Game Fest 2026 alongside the game’s first-ever cinematic trailer. July 10, 2026, on all platforms simultaneously: PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Game Pass subscribers are included. If you already own Palworld, Version 1.0 is a free update.

The exact release time hasn’t been officially confirmed. Past major updates like Sakurajima and Feybreak dropped around 9 AM JST, which works out to roughly 8 PM ET the evening before for US players. Pocketpair has a habit of leaving the exact timing vague until the last moment, so treat that estimate as a guide rather than a guarantee.

Pocketpair’s global communications lead described the patch notes as 27 pages long. Twenty-seven pages. He said he was “losing his mind” trying to format them. That’s not a routine patch, that’s months of held-back content dropping at once.

Is There Going to Be a Reset for Palworld 1.0?

No forced wipe. Existing save data carries into Version 1.0 and your Pals transfer through the Global Palbox. So technically, you don’t have to start over.

That said, Pocketpair is “softly suggesting” players begin a fresh save. Their reasoning is that the progression systems, story missions, and new areas are designed to be experienced from the beginning. Starting fresh gives you the intended context for everything 1.0 adds. If you’ve put hundreds of hours into a current world and don’t want to abandon it, you’re not forced to. But if you’re on the fence, a new run is the better call.

Either way, back up your save files before the update hits. Major version updates have a history of causing unexpected issues with older saves even when no wipe is planned. Our Palworld guide covers base management and progression tips worth revisiting before you start a fresh run.

Palworld 1.0 New Areas: World Tree and Sky Islands

The World Tree has been visible from the Palpagos map since launch, sitting on the northwest horizon behind an impassable red barrier. Version 1.0 removes that barrier entirely and turns the World Tree region into the game’s main endgame zone. High-level enemies, new resources, story fragments Pocketpair describes as “pieces of a grand narrative,” and what appears to be a major raid boss positioned at the base of the tree itself.

Sky Islands are the other headline addition: floating landmasses above Palpagos, each with their own Pals, villages, and exploration content built around aerial traversal. A massive serpent Pal is confirmed to be up there somewhere. These aren’t decorative background elements, they’re proper new biomes with unique resources and enemies.

Combined with the World Tree region and a second major island, the total explorable landmass in Version 1.0 is expected to roughly double compared to the original 2024 launch. That’s the single biggest map expansion Palworld has ever had.

Palworld 1.0 New Pals

Pocketpair’s community manager confirmed that Version 1.0 introduces more new Pals than any previous update in the game’s history. His exact words were “many many many new Pals,” which is not a precise number but communicates the scale clearly enough.

Confirmed or spotted from the cinematic trailer and official teases so far: a Fire Dragon resembling Astegon but more aggressive, a Martial Arts Panda that fights alongside you, a Sky Dragon Boss encountered in the Sky Islands, a Sword Eel Pal you can literally equip and swing as a melee weapon, a Giant Whale Pal heading toward the World Tree in the trailer’s final shot, and a Tree Guardian creature positioned behind the World Tree that is almost certainly a raid boss.

The Sword Eel and weapon-transformation Pals are worth flagging specifically. Version 1.0 introduces a category of Pals that transform into weapons mid-combat, which is a genuinely new mechanic rather than a cosmetic variation on existing systems. For the full running list of every confirmed new Pal spotted so far, Mobalytics is tracking all 1.0 Pal reveals with updates as Pocketpair drops new teasers.

Palworld 1.0 Survival Crafting Changes

Version 1.0 introduces the Wing Pack, the most mechanically significant gear addition in the game’s history. It lets players fly and glide without occupying a Pal party slot, which has been one of the most requested quality-of-life changes since launch. Previously, aerial traversal meant dedicating one of your five slots to a mount, which was a real tradeoff in combat situations.

Crafting the Wing Pack requires 30 Plasteel, 50 Pal Metal Ingots, 20 High Quality Cloth, and 15 Ancient Civilization Parts. Mid-to-late progression materials, so it’s not something you’ll have on day one of a fresh save. It’s designed as a reward for players who’ve built out their resource automation systems.

Genetic Recombination is the other major crafting system addition: a new breeding mechanic that lets players fuse high-tier Legendary Pals into unique variations with inherited traits. If you breed competitively, this is going to reshape how you approach Pal lineages entirely. Plan to revisit your breeding setups once 1.0 is live.

Tower Boss and Wildlife Sanctuary Reworks

Tower Bosses are getting a full rework in Version 1.0. The encounters are being redesigned to be more dynamic, and based on what Pocketpair has teased, most or all Tower Bosses will have post-fight recruitment quests added, letting them join your party as a Pal after you defeat them. A new Tower Boss character has also been confirmed for the first time.

Wildlife Sanctuaries are being repositioned as serious destinations rather than efficient farming stops. Each sanctuary now runs its own distinct ecosystem with unique enemies, drone patrols, strange energy barriers, and powerful bosses that spawn when you start poaching too aggressively. For players who used to clear Sanctuaries on autopilot, that approach isn’t going to work the same way in 1.0.

Both reworks push familiar activities toward something that asks more from the player and gives more back.

Should You Start a New Game for Palworld 1.0?

Developers suggest starting a new game when Palworld 1.0 releases, though it’s not required. The honest answer is: it depends on what you want from the update.

If you left Palworld during Early Access and are returning for 1.0, starting fresh is the obvious call. You get the complete experience with all the balance changes, story content, and new systems baked in from the beginning.

If you’ve been playing consistently and have a world you care about, continuing is a legitimate choice. Your Pals and progress carry over. You won’t be locked out of any content.

If you’re completely new to Palworld, July 10 is genuinely the best time to start. Version 1.0 is Pocketpair saying “this is the complete game.” You’ll have the most content, the best balance, and no FOMO about what came before.
