GTA 6 Pre-Order Guide: Price, Editions, Bonuses & Everything You Need to Know

The wait is finally, mercifully over. Well, partially over. GTA 6 preorder went live on June 25, 2026, and after years of price rumors and speculation, we finally have real numbers, real editions, and a real bonus pack to argue about.

I’ll be honest, I expected chaos on day one and Rockstar mostly delivered a clean launch. But there are a few things about this preorder setup that caught people off guard, including one decision about physical copies that has collectors genuinely angry. So let’s go through all of it: the price, the two editions, the Vintage Vice City Pack, where to pre-order GTA 6, and whether you should even bother pre-ordering right now.

Can you pre-order GTA 6 right now?

Yes. If you’ve been asking “When can I pre-order GTA 6?” the answer is right now. Preorders opened at midnight local time on June 25, 2026, on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart.

The game launches November 19, 2026, on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S. That’s it. No PS4, no Xbox One, and no PC version at launch. If you’re a PC player wondering where you fit into all this, I covered the whole situation in my GTA 6 PC release date and requirements guide. Short version: you’re waiting until 2027 at least.

One thing worth flagging for PS5 owners. The “GTA 6 PS5 pre order coming” searches spiked before June 25 because Rockstar only let you wishlist the game at first. That phase is done. The store pages are fully live and taking money.

GTA 6 Price: How Much Is GTA 6 Going to Cost?

For over a year, the GTA 6 price rumors and speculation pointed at $100 for the base game. Analysts talked about it. Retailer leaks in Europe seemed to back it. Everyone braced for it.

It didn’t happen. The official GTA 6 price update from Rockstar landed at $79.99 for the standard edition, with the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. So if you were wondering how much GTA 6 is going to be, that’s your answer: $80 or $100, depending on which version you pick.

Here’s the thing though. That earlier GTA 6 price leak chatter wasn’t completely wrong, it was just aimed at the wrong tier. The $100 price point exists, Rockstar just attached a pile of exclusive content to it instead of making it the entry price. Smart move, honestly. Variety reported the pricing announcement alongside another detail people glossed over: Rockstar described the game as a single-player experience and said nothing about GTA Online at launch. You can read the full breakdown in Variety’s pricing report.

The price of GTA 6 in India and other regions wasn’t confirmed in the initial announcement, so check your local store page for exact regional pricing.

GTA 6 Editions: Standard vs Ultimate

There are exactly two GTA 6 editions. Standard and Ultimate. That’s the whole list.

No middle tier, no deluxe version, and no GTA 6 collectors edition. At least not yet. Rockstar ran the same playbook with GTA 5, launching pre-orders with basic tiers and revealing the fancy physical Collector’s Edition months later. I’d bet money the same thing happens here, so if you’re the steelbook-and-map type, hold your wallet.

What’s in the Standard Edition ($79.99)

The full game. Jason and Lucia’s story across the state of Leonida, the biggest map Rockstar has ever built, roughly twice the size of GTA 5’s world. Pre-order it before the deadline and you also get the Vintage Vice City Pack, which I’ll get to in a minute.

What’s in the Ultimate Edition ($99.99)

This is where the $20 gap gets interesting, and a little controversial. The Ultimate Edition includes:

  • Exclusive vehicles. A ’95 Grotti Cheetah, a Shitzu Squalo speedboat, and a ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy among them.
  • Exclusive weapon variants. Including personalized Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers.
  • Ultimate-only shops. Five stores locked to this edition: Rideout Customs, Sara’s Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo, and One-Eyed Willie’s. These are single-player locations, not online extras.
  • The Classic Car Collection. A mission-style activity where you hunt down abandoned project cars and restore them.

PC Gamer made a fair point in their editions breakdown that locking actual shops and a mini questline behind a paywall stings a bit. I agree. However, Rockstar confirmed that you can upgrade to Ultimate after launch, so nothing is permanently missable.

The Vintage Vice City Pack: Your Pre Order Bonus

Every preorder, Standard or Ultimate, comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack as long as you buy before November 20, 2026. Yes, that effectively includes launch day purchases too, which makes “pre order bonus” a slightly generous label. But whatever, free stuff is free stuff.

The pack includes:

  • Retro outfits for Jason and Lucia. A pastel linen suit for him, a red sequin mini dress for her. Very 1986.
  • The ’55 Vapid Stanier. A classic sedan for cruising Shore Drive.
  • The Shore Court garage at Ocean Beach. Comes with a weapon locker and a spot to fence stolen goods.
  • An exclusive weapon pattern. A tropical print inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s palm tree shirt from the original Vice City.

Digital preorders also get a free month of GTA+, redeemable immediately for GTA Online and the classic Rockstar games library. The full details are on the Rockstar Newswire announcement.

How to Pre-Order GTA 6

If you’re wondering how to preorder GTA 6, the process is about as simple as it gets:

  1. Open the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Rockstar Games Store on your platform of choice
  2. Search Grand Theft Auto VI and pick Standard or Ultimate
  3. Pay, and you’re done

For a GTA 6 pre-order on PS5 specifically, the game supports both PS5 and PS5 Pro, and your purchase covers both. Retail chains are also taking orders if you prefer buying in person, though there’s a catch with physical copies that deserves its own section.

Digital preload starts November 12, 2026, a full week before launch. Given how massive this game will be, do not skip the preload. Downloading a file this size on launch day is a self-inflicted wound.

GTA 6 Physical Copy: There Is No Disc

This is the part that made collectors furious, and I get it.

The GTA 6 physical copy is a box with a download code inside. No disc. Rockstar has said there are no plans to press discs at all, at launch or later. Take Two confirmed GTA 6 physical editions arriving in stores from November 12 to support preloading, but what arrives is cardboard and a code.

The GTA 6 physical copy price is the same $79.99 as digital Standard, and here’s the kicker: the Ultimate Edition isn’t available physically at all. Sure, a code in a box still gets you the game. But you can’t lend it, resell it, or shelve it as an actual copy of the biggest game of the decade. A couple of physical-media retailers have already refused to stock it, and GameStop employees have described preorder numbers at their stores as disastrous because of it.

Honestly, this feels like the moment the disc era ends for good. I wrote about how dramatically this industry has shifted in my piece on how gaming changed over the last decade, and the death of physical media was always the endgame. GTA 6 just made it official.

GTA 6 Countdown: How Many Days Until GTA 6?

As of July 7, 2026, the GTA 6 countdown sits at 135 days until launch on November 19, 2026.

The GTA 6 release date countdown has a few checkpoints worth marking on your calendar:

  • Now until November 19: Preorders open, Vintage Vice City Pack included
  • November 12: Digital preload begins, physical boxes hit stores
  • November 19: Launch day on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
  • November 20: Vintage Vice City Pack deadline passes

If you’re running a GTA 6 preorder countdown of your own, the only date that actually matters for the bonus is November 20. Everything before that gets you the same pack. There’s no early-bird advantage, no timed exclusive, nothing that punishes you for waiting until October to decide.

Should You Pre Order GTA 6?

Here’s my honest take, and it’s less exciting than the hype deserves.

If you’re buying digital, there’s no urgency at all. Digital copies don’t sell out. The bonus pack is available until November 20 anyway. Preordering in July gets you exactly what preordering in November gets you, minus four months of your money sitting in Rockstar’s account. Reports suggest pre-orders are already smashing records, with one insider claiming the Ultimate Edition makes up around 72% of them, so Rockstar clearly doesn’t need your early support either.

The two situations where preordering now actually makes sense: you want a physical box and you’re worried about retail stock, or you simply want it off your to-do list. Both are fair.

And if you’re a PC player sitting this launch out, use the wait productively. The eventual PC port will be demanding, and if your rig is due for a refresh, my guide to buying a gaming PC covers how to build for the long haul without overspending on parts you don’t need yet.

Final Thoughts

Preorders going live was the starting gun for GTA 6’s real marketing push. Trailer 3 is widely expected before launch, a Collector’s Edition reveal would surprise nobody, and Rockstar still hasn’t said a word about GTA Online’s next chapter. The next four months are going to be loud.

For now, the essentials are simple. $79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate, bonus pack for everyone who buys before November 20, preloads on November 12, and 135 days on the clock. We’ll keep this guide updated as new details drop.
